Oh hey everyone! It’s been awhile, I know. The past month and a half have been so crazy that I have barely had time to think about it, let alone write about it. One of the things that has kept me so busy was my 2017 wedding season. I had three weddings almost three weeks in a row. I kicked things off with Rob + Melanie’s wedding in Larkin Square.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am wary of shooting weddings out of fear of brides who want to copy everything they see on Pinterest, or groom-zillas, which are very much a thing. In business, people always speak about marketing and branding in order to attract your ideal clientele. I somehow have managed to succeed in this, because Rob + Melanie are one of the easiest-going couples I have ever worked with. Actually every couple I have worked with has been great and flexible, but these two had one of the best wedding day schedules. I started by meeting Melanie and her friends at her house for the ‘getting-ready’ shots. After that, Rob + Melanie decided to take their ‘couple’ photos before the ceremony, which made things super easy. A quick trip to Delaware Park, and the ‘Welcome to Buffalo’ mural at the Washington Market, and we were off to Larkin.
The ceremony was a quick 10-15 minutes, followed by a cocktail hour and reception all in the same place, making setup a breeze. Skipping the formal meal, the two decided to bring a couple of food trucks in (in keeping with Larkin tradition) to feed the guests. Being that my own wedding was super DIY, I appreciated the simple and beautiful touches. Overall, it was a beautiful day for the couple to celebrate with their close family and friends.
