Jason and Sarah’s wedding day was a family affair…literally. Sarah is a distant cousin of mine, and I was thrilled when she asked me to capture their big day! Some people might find the idea of working for a family member complicated, but for me it was the most relaxed I have been at any wedding because I knew 90% of the guests in attendance. My parents were even there! How cool is that?!
Sarah described the day as her dream wedding. I describe her day as the most ‘Joanna Gaines-esq’ wedding I have ever seen. This was the DIY wedding to end all DIY endings. The wedding was held in my hometown, so getting around was a breeze. After the church ceremony, the reception was held at the couple’s home, which sits on 34 acres of land. There was a huge tent set up adorned with vintage chandeliers, which Sarah found and dressed up herself, as well as stunning flower arrangements and candelabra centerpieces. Next to the tent, the couple completely decorated the inside of the barn with the same vintage decor where the bar, dinner, and dancing were all held. There were so many tiny details of decor that matched so perfectly together. It took vintage, rustic-beauty to a whole new level.
It was so nice to capture candid moments all throughout the day, but also be able to mingle with relatives as well. I felt like I could actually be a guest while working, which was a unique experience. Check out some of the photos below!
